Dr Peter Thomson is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine. He has practiced privately at Wimbledon Clinics, Parkside Hospital since 2005 and joined the sport and health services in February 2015.
He is an Honorary NHS Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine at St George’s Hospital where he has worked as the Lead Physician in MICAS (the Musculoskeletal Interface Clinical Assessment Service) since 2004.
Over the years Peter has gained a wide experience of sporting conditions, having an interest in injuries associated with football, rugby, skiing and running. Peter uses diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound in his clinical practice. He has a Certificate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound from Bournemouth University and is completing his Diploma in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
Peter is a passionate runner and has taken part in distance running up to ½ Marathon level in the UK and abroad. In the past he has helped with the medical cover at London Marathon. He sees amateur and elite runners at Wimbledon Clinics working closely with specialists in biomechanics and lower limb physiotherapy. His aim is to give athletes a best understanding possible of their condition and to work with other allied musculoskeletal practitioners to enable them to return to sport.
