Prof Trevor Walker
Professor of Drama Education
Trevor worked as an actor and then theatre director in Europe and North America for many years before he became a university lecturer at Goldsmiths College, University of London, where he taught acting and convened the MA in Theatre Directing.
His professional work continued with productions in London venues and touring productions in Germany where for two years he was also artistic director of the English Theatre Company at the Europahaus Theatre, Essen.
He joined St Mary’s in 2004 as Head of Drama and continues to direct professionally.
His research interests include applied theatre in healthcare. He has produced and directed Nell Dunn’s play, Cancer Tales, at medical conferences and events in the UK, Europe and the USA, winning national awards in England and Ireland. He directed the world premiere of Nell Dunn’s play Home Death and wrote and produced two plays commissioned by The Teenage Cancer Trust.
His recent film work includes the adaptation and direction of Cancer Tales as a training resource for healthcare professionals across Europe, two public health information films for Merton, Sutton and Hounslow Councils and a screenplay for The Teenage Cancer Trust.
