Outspan project in Uganda

For the past three years, SHOCC has acted as the conduit for a group of families and schools in Northamptonshire. They are financially supporting the education of around 20 infant and junior pupils at the Outspan School in the north of Kampala, Uganda.

Each year the families contribute £250 - £300 per pupil to the school via the SHOCC Just Giving website and we then transfer the money directly to Dismas, the headteacher. So far nearly £20,000 has been sent, thereby providing a sustainable education for an increasing number of pupils. The most recent tranche of money for the 2013 fees has just been sent.

Dismas is also building a secondary school outside Kampala and several families are helping him with the construction costs. Through Gift Aid, we are able to claim back on the donations, plus a small amount from SHOCC funds. This school is growing year by year.
