The Strawberry Hill History Scholarship
St Mary’s University shares its Strawberry Hill campus with the Gothic mansion built by Horace Walpole, an acclaimed writer and patron of the 18th century, and the third son of Britain’s first modern Prime Minister. To recognise the unique history of Strawberry Hill, the university is launching the Strawberry Hill History Scholarship, worth £1,250 for each year of your degree in History*.
To be eligible for the Scholarship, you must:
- Achieve a B in A-Level history
- Apply through UCAS for Single Honours History, and meet all of the normal criteria for acceptance
- Be classified as a ‘Home’ or EU student for fee status purposes
- Apply by the UCAS deadline in the year of application
- Accept a place on the Single Honours History course by 1st May 2019
There is no application form: the Scholarship will be awarded to any student applying in the 2018/19 UCAS cycle who satisfies all of these criteria. Once you have enrolled the scholarship will be applied in the form of a reduction of £1,250 per year to your University tuition fees.
Please note that any final offer of an award will be subject to you accepting St Mary’s University as your first choice institution and enrolling in September 2019.
The university reserves the right to withdraw the award at any time should you behave in a manner that brings either yourself, or the university, into disrepute, you are subject to any academic or non-academic misconduct procedures or you are a university debtor.
The scholarship will be renewed annually for three years of study provided that:
- You maintain an attendance rate of 70% or above
- You successfully complete a minimum of 100 credits and progress to your next level of study
*£1,250 reduction in fees subject to meeting attendance and achievement benchmarks in each year.
