Degree studied: Sports Journalism

Taking on the challenge of the MA Sports Journalism course at St Mary's University was a life changing decision that has opened up doors I never knew existed in my early career.

Yes, taking on the NCTJ modules will make you employable - but producing a Master's project has the potential to shape your career in exactly the way you want it.

My project took me to Mongolia after the university assisted me in obtaining funds to produce a documentary, where I obtained evidence of former FIFA president Sepp Blatter making promises he couldn’t deliver to the young footballing nation.

Dr Minogue’s enthusiasm and willingness to help in every way possible is the reason I have kick-started my career after completing the course.

In my two years since graduating, I have worked for the MailOnline & MailOnline sport, ITN Sport, Squawka and continue to host a live event day radio broadcast for the FA at Wembley stadium - another opportunity that came through St Mary’s.

You will always be the master of your own fate, but by placing yourself in the right place at the right time you will be giving yourself the best possible chance to navigate through the early years of your career in journalism.

Good luck!
