Studying Theology, Religion, and Ethics in the St Mary’s Institute of Theology engages contemporary intellectual debates with ancient disciplines. Our BA programme prepares students to be highly employable and effective citizens in a complex world.
4-key characteristics of our BA programme:
Innovative Teaching and Learning
We specialise in providing engaging teaching, and being committed to our students’ intellectual formation. We offer a diverse range of assessment methods, including options like visual commentaries and a short video, as well as the traditional essay. Our teaching and learning approach is focused on being as inclusive and supportive as we can.
Diverse employers are becoming increasingly aware of the value of academic training in the areas of Theology, Religion, and Ethics. Along with our dedicated Careers Service, our staff are committed to helping students’ discern their career path, and gain the skills necessary to ensure they flourish in the workplace.
St Mary’s Institute of Theology houses 4-world leading Research Centres, and the work of these expert hubs is built into our undergraduate degree. Our staff are high-scoring research professionals, with a volume of publications produced each year.
St Mary’s is a friendly institution, and the Institute of Theology seeks to know each student individually in order to ensure each student reaches his or her full potential. There are a range of Student Societies, and the BA programme involves various field trips around London, and to places like Rome and Jerusalem, providing excellent opportunities for staff and students to get to know each other.
The Institute of Theology is always looking for schools and colleges with whom we can work to assist students in making choices around Higher Education.
Our work takes 3-directions:
Each year we invite a range of schools for a day or half-day visit to our campus, where we provide some mini-lectures on topics on the A-Level syllabus, and provide some refreshments and a campus tour.
We will send academic staff to schools and colleges to discuss University-level education in Theology, Religion, and Ethics, and to give more specialised help and mentoring with UCAS applications.
Prospective students are always welcome at our Open Days, where there are talks centred on the BA in Theology, Religion, and Ethics, and more general activities around life at St Mary’s, accommodation, and so on. Please click here to find out more.
