Liberal Arts: Theology Major

Combine a study of Theology with a wide-ranging study of the Liberal Arts. Personalise your degree by choosing from a diverse range of Theology and Liberal Arts Modules. This course trains you for a digital, global age in which theological insight and religious literacy matter more than ever. This degree combines contemporary debates with ancient disciplines. 

Along with our experts, you will read seminal writers and thinkers of centuries-old traditions, pick up critical views of contemporary world issues, and examine the cultural appropriation of religious ideas and imagery. You may wish to study modules about science and religious ethics, politics and the Bible, or look closely at developments in theory and theological doctrine. 

This degree allows you explore some of the most recent and the most long-standing examples of the perennial human search for meaning, and apply them to the realities of contemporary society.

Year one

In the first year, you'll study three core modules and three modules of your own choosing from across a minimum of two subjects.

Year two

You will study two core modules in the second year and select four optional modules. If you wish to follow the Theology major pathway you will need to choose a minimum of three Theology modules.

Year three

There is one core module in the third year and you will need to select an additional four optional modules. If you wish to follow the Theology major pathway you will need to choose a minimum of three Theology modules.
