Directorate of Research and Knowledge Exchange
St Mary’s has a well-established research culture, concentrated in hubs of excellence through our Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres.
Undertaking research, scholarship, and knowledge exchange is an integral part of academic life at St Mary’s, and the Directorate of Research and Knowledge Exchange works with the Faculties and Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres to drive and support this activity.
We address social challenges through inter-disciplinary research that aims to foster a better society. Our research contributes to economic development, enhances professional practice, and makes a difference to people's lives, through collaboration with communities, charities, professional organisations, and partners in business and industry. In particular, our core areas of research strength and priorities are in:
- Social Justice and Social Impact
- Catholicism, Faith, and Spirituality
- Fostering a Healthier Society
- Innovation and Improvement in Performance and Professional Practice
- Community and Civic Engagement
These priorities are reflected in and delivered through our Research and Knowledge Exchange Centres.
