Dr Viki Veale

Senior Lecturer - Early Years and Primary Education

School of Education

Viki trained to teach at St Mary’s University. After a career working with children and their families in schools and childcare settings, she returned to St Marys as a lecturer and now leads modules on research, professional confidence, political engagement and, of course, Early Years.

Viki’s doctoral research focused on the lived experiences of teachers in maintained early years settings. She continues to explore ways to support the early years workforce through her voluntary roles and to promote the importance of professional development for those working with young children through her policy facing work.

Viki regularly leads knowledge exchange events for educators and policy makers and to serve as an external expert on national and international research projects connected with early childhood education and care.
