Nahiyan Rashid

PhD Candidate and Visting Lecturer

Nahiyan Rashid is a final-year PhD candidate at St Mary’s University and an Associate Scholar for the British Psychoanalytic Council.

His doctoral project focuses on the landscape of masculinity, particularly the online fitness space. The research critically examines the evolving performances of masculinity and male embodiment within contemporary fitness culture. His research builds on a growing area in social science that blends psychoanalysis and digital studies together by investigating gendered identity through a psychoanalytical lens. The project aims to understand how men construct their online identities to navigate the anxieties and complexities of gendered politics.
