As well as an opportunity for the network to meet up, the session will introduce Dementia UK and Admiral Nurses. The presentation will cover types of dementia including young onset dementia, common symptoms and communication tips. We will then discuss how dementia can relate to the workplace and how to support staff and carers.
It will finish with tips on reducing the risk of developing dementia and how to access further support. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers at the end.
Presenter
The presenter, Gary Burnham-Jones, is an Admiral Nurse working for Dementia UK. After working in the NHS for 25 years in a wide range of dementia-related roles, Gary joined the charity Dementia UK in 2020 to develop a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse clinic service based in primary care in East Sussex.
He now works in a hybrid role supporting the national Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline and Virtual clinic service. These services provide specialist support to families living with dementia by phone, video call and email.
