Since 2020, the Guardians of Creation Project (GoCP) has worked with Catholic Dioceses in England and Wales to develop guidance on decarbonizing its properties.
The framework spans seven main reports and supplementary materials, each dealing with a separate aspect of decarbonizing a diocese, and benefiting from the contributions of more than 100 experts from the worlds of sustainability and faith-based organizations.
Whilst the project was focused on England and Wales, the findings and methods are adaptable internationally, and so the GoCP team invites you to a webinar to explain the work and discuss how it could apply in your organization and country.
Who is the webinar for?
The webinar is intended primarily for individuals with managerial responsibility in dioceses, religious orders, charities, and other religious and faith-based organisations.
Although we are nominally concentrating on the Global North on account of its disproportionate share of global greenhouse gas emissions, participants from anywhere in the world are welcome to join if they feel that doing so might be useful to them.
When is the webinar?
The webinar will be run three times on 7th February 2024 to suit attendees from different time zones.
- 8-9.30am (GMT) - intended primarily for attendees in Asia-Pacific.
- 12-1.30pm (GMT) - intended primarily for attendees in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
- 7-8.30pm (GMT) - intended primarily for attendees in the Americas.
What will we discuss?
The webinar will provide an opportunity for members of religious and faith-based organizations, especially organizations looking to:
- translate Laudato Si’ into practical action
- share good practice
- explore how to address perceived barriers to ecological transformation.
Drawing on the GoCP reports, we will discuss effective strategies for decarbonization and enablers of attitude and behaviour change.
You'll shape the content
But we also want to hear from you – to learn from your experiences, to identify how GoCP can support your organization, and to build connections across the international network of ecological change-makers.
In the months following the webinars, we hope to make ourselves available to you for one-to-one consulting and advice, which we will provide for free, if you feel it might benefit your organization.
