Autumn 2025 Business Clinic speaker event series

Date: Tuesday 30 September 2025 to Tuesday 25 November 2025

Venue: Senior Common Room

Doors open at 4.30pm and the workshop/talk starts at 5pm and lasts up to an hour. Thereafter, drinks/canapés are served with opportunities for networking. Participants will be our students and local businesses. The aim is to bring everyone together to showcase expertise and stimulate ideas/opportunities for projects with local businesses led by academics and students.

Kofi Amegashie is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management with the School of Business at St Mary’s University Twickenham. He has some 30 years’ experience with blue-chip multinationals, including Chevron, Shell and the Coca-Cola Company. The bulk of his career was spent in line management positions in Southeast Asia, India, Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

AI as a tool in accounting, finance, and market research – Creating that competitive edge

Ali Ibrahim is a researcher and academic with over 10 years’ experience in higher education, having worked at international institutions, including universities in the UK and the Middle East. He is currently a Lecturer in accounting and the Course Lead for undergraduate and postgraduate accounting programmes at St Mary’s University. He is specialised in accounting, finance, and emerging financial technologies, and has taught a broad range of modules, including taxation, auditing, forensic accounting, financial accounting/reporting, and management accounting. His research areas focuses on forensic accounting, auditing, blockchain, and anti-money laundering mechanisms.

Artificial intelligence is transforming accounting, finance, and market research by automating tasks, extracting insights from large datasets, improving accuracy, and enabling real-time decision-making. Many organisations are already piloting or adopting AI to enhance financial processes and gain deeper market intelligence. This session will explore the benefits and challenges of AI in accounting and finance, alongside its expanding role in market research, offering practical insights.
