A conference that explores the emergence of consciousness is to be held at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham on Thursday 9th May.
The conference, “The Emergence of Consciousness” has been organised by St Mary’s Centre for Bioethics and Emerging Technologies (CBET) in conjunction with the Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and Simulation of Behaviour (AISB).
The one-day workshop will bring together a multidisciplinary team to examine a number of issues including what is meant by consciousness? How did it emerge? Is there a continuum between consciousness and non-consciousness?
Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from keynote speakers from across the field such as Prof Murray Shanahan (Imperial College London), Prof Steve Torrance (University of Sussex), Dr James Steele (University College London) and Proff Geoff Hunt (St Mary’s University College).
