Award winning theatre company, New International Encounter (NIE), are returning to the Drama St Mary’s Theatre at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham on Tuesday 8th October.
Known for their innovative mix of physical theatre, multiple languages, live music, storytelling and European ensemble, NIE have toured internationally performing their extensive repertoire of over 20 shows. They return to the Drama St Mary’s Theatre to perform one of their most critically acclaimed pieces North North North.
The play is based on a tragic arctic balloon expedition in 1897 undertaken by S A Andree, the only man to ever try and reach the North Pole with a hydrogen balloon. The story is one of intrigue, adventure, and human suffering, which the doomed expedition saw all three members perish. An incredible tale of one man’s obsession to explore the unknown realm of ice, and the lengths he went to conquer the North, North North North takes the audience on a journey into a little known story from one of the world’s last great wilderness areas.
