Public Seminar Explores Aspects of Irish Diaspora

The final lecture in a series of free Irish Studies events is being held on Tuesday 4th June at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham. The Centre for Irish Studies at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has been running a series of free public seminars aimed at anyone thinking of joining the MA Irish Studies course this September. It gives students the chance to see exactly what the course has to offer, as well as the chance to experience St Mary’s campus and community atmosphere. Sociologists Mary Hickman and Carole Murphy, who both lecture at the University College, are to deliver the final session in the series with their seminar ‘Aspects of the Irish Diaspora’. Other seminars in the series included Dr Keith Hopper’s talk on acclaimed Irish Author Flann O’Brien, and Dr Ivan Gibbons’ lecture ‘An Unlikely Leader; William T Cosgrave and the Foundation of the Irish Free State 1922-32’. The free public seminar will be held at 6pm at St Mary’s Strawberry Hill campus on Tuesday 4th June. For more information and to book your place, please contact Kirsty Cox on coxk@stmarys.ac.uk.
