Postgraduate Drama students at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham are busy preparing for an international tour with their new theatre company, Haste Theatre.
Haste Theatre, a six woman international ensemble, has been created by recent MA Physical Theatre students and specialises in physical performances that touch audiences with both sadness and joy.
After graduating from St Mary’s earlier this year, the group is now preparing to tour across Europe and the USA with their third show, Oyster Boy. The play explores what it means to be different in a world where appearance is key, and celebrates everything that is a little bit different. Using a mix of theatrical styles, it is a performance that is full of energy, fun, beauty and poignancy, leaving audiences not only entertained but also moved.
The first performance will take place from 12th to 15th June at the Tristan Bates Theatre in London. From there, the group have been invited to perform in San Diego, Rome and Camden Fringe Festivals in addition to schools in London and across Europe.
Valeri Compagnoni commented, “We are very excited to start this new adventure and to take Oyster Boy on tour. The past year has been an amazing experience for all of us, and this will be our third show as part of our MA at St Mary's. We hope readers will enjoy our blog updates as we embark on the journey ahead of us.”
You can follow the group during their tour on the Haste Theatre blog.
