Later this month, St Mary’s University College, Twickenham will host the Fijian Rugby team as part of its training programme ahead of the centenary rugby match against the Barbarians on Saturday 30th November.
As one of London’s top-performing sports institutions, Sport St Mary’s regularly hosts international athletes and teams, including more than 150 athletes during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Fijian team will be training at the University College’s Strawberry Hill campus for three days running up to the match at nearby Twickenham stadium. They will make use of the state-of-the-art facilities including the gym, training pitches, rehabilitation clinic which are also used by the likes of Paralympic champion David Weir.
St Mary’s Director for Sport Andrew Reid-Smith commented, “We are delighted that the Fiji team are returning to St Mary’s to make use of the outstanding rugby setup that we offer. Fiji is an exciting team, we are looking forward to supporting their final preparation and I’m sure they will continue to enjoy working out of St Mary’s.”
