Last weekend marked a significant point in the students’ calendar at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham with the annual music festival SIMMStock, which took place on Saturday 20th April. Students and staff descended onto the Priest’s Lawn to enjoy a day of live acts across three stages, combined with festival stalls, games and the spring sunshine.
The headline acts included Scarlett’s Roses, Soulfish, Rockaoke and the Students’ Union very own Joe Garvey, whose band Dave Dave Not Dave gave as memorable performance as the rest. Joe commented, “I knew from organising the festival that it was going to be special, but it definitely surpassed our expectations as a band. The crowd were incredible - we hope to come back next year!”
Dave Benson-Phillips, presenter from the hit television series ‘Get Your Own Back’ also made a guest appearance lending his gunge tank facilities for a few exciting twists on the day.
SIMMStock 2013 has grown from strength to strength with yet another successful year organised by the Students’ Union. SU President Charlie Benson said, “SIMMStock 2013 could not have gone any better! The weather was fantastic, the music was amazing and the atmosphere amongst the students and artists was probably the best I’ve seen in the four years of SIMMStock. I just want to thank everyone who played a part in what was probably my proudest day at St Mary’s to date.”
