The Mathematics team in the School of Education at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, has been recognised for its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training for maths teachers after securing the mark of quality standard from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).
St Mary’s offers a range of CPD programmes to mathematics teachers throughout the country and internationally, from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) to School Leaders and this provision has been officially recognised for the 5th year running.
The standard was awarded to St Mary’s in recognition of its work to developing teachers’ mathematical and pedagogical knowledge, to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics in their classrooms and helping teachers to construct sound, research based pedagogical frameworks.
St Mary’s PGCE Secondary Mathematics Course Tutor Nigel Wills commented, “Jacky and I are absolutely committed to the CPD of existing teachers in the classroom, further to the initial teacher training here at the University College. We are delighted to receive the NCETM standard as proof of this, and to support future work in the teaching and learning of mathematics. ”
