Strawberry Hill Overseas and Community Concern (SHOCC), the official charity at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, is delighted to be able support the Cleveland Scouts’ 2013 Expedition to Kenya.
A party consisting of around 40 scouts and leaders will be pitching their tents in the grounds of St Paul's School, Marigat in the northern Rift Valley. They will be staying at the school for four weeks and whilst there will construct the much needed final classroom for the school. Over the past 18 months the Scouts have been raising the funds for their visit. They will also visit the newly established St Kevin's school about 20 miles away. Both schools are SHOCC projects and St Paul's was chosen by the Cleveland Scouts on the recommendation of SHOCC Trustee, Dr Kevin Cook.
Kevin will be visiting both schools in August later this year and will report back on what has been achieved. Anyone wishing to keep up to date with the Cleveland Scouts' progress whilst they are in Kenya can follow them on their blog.
