A Sport Science Student at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, has won three medals for Team Great Britain in rowing at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF), which took place last week.
First year student Luke Moon, who also receives strength and conditioning support at St Mary’s, represented Team GB in three rowing events at the AYOF and successfully secured medals in all three competitions. Team GB took Bronze in the men’s eight with a time of 6:01.25, Silver in the Quadruple Sculls with a time of 6:12.84 and Luke secured Silver in the Men’s Single Sculls with a time of 7:07.69.
About the competition Luke commented, “I am delighted to have won these medals and I‘m looking forward to the Under 23 World Championships in July.”
Richard Blagrove, St Mary’s Programme Director and Strength and Conditioning Coach to Luke commented, “Given the schedule of races and the conditions Luke faced at the festival, to achieve three medals is a remarkable achievement. His performances have also given us some useful indicators as to the areas of his fitness which require work as he prepares for GB final trials at Easter.”
