This weekend, the Choir at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham took part in the 25th Annual Church Universities and Colleges Choir Festival in Birmingham.
Hosted by Newman University, the event saw St Mary’s Choir perform in a concert of Brahms’ German Requiem, along with 11 other Cathedrals Group institutions with the Birmingham Chamber Orchestra.
In the first part of the concert, St Mary’s performed solo with ‘Prayer from South Africa’, under their director Martin Foster. On the Sunday morning, the Choir performed in a special Mass at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham.
Choir President Becky Mills commented, “It was a wonderful weekend to be part of. This was my third Choir Festival, the sounds and friendships we make never cease to amaze me. As usual we put our own mark on the event, adding to our ever-growing reputation as a small but powerful choir. To top it all off, the Symphony Hall was a spectacular building to sing in, and I hope next year can be just as memorable.”
The Choir’s next concert will be in April.
