A Sport Science student from St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has been selected to represent Team Great Britain in rowing at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival this month.
First year student Luke Moon, who trains at Tideway Scullers School, was announced as part of the GB rowing team by the British Olympic Association at the end of last year. During the Festival he will compete in the Quadruple Sculls, Single Sculls and Men’s Eight races.
In addition to studying at the University College, Luke also receives strength and conditioning support from St Mary’s Programme Director Richard Blagrove. He commented, “Luke has achieved some fantastic results since starting at St Mary’s, including a win at the GB Junior Trials in November which resulted in his selection for the Youth Olympics. He has a very professional approach to his preparation and is clearly benefitting from the Olympic medallists he trains alongside on a daily basis.”
The Australian Youth Olympic Festival takes place in Sydney from 16th to 20th January. More than 1,700 athletes from 30 nations will take part in the festival.
