Image: 04 December 2014 SHARE Following excellent performances at the Liverpool Cross Challenge last weekend, seven athletes from St Mary’s Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) have been selected to compete for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the forthcoming SPAR European Cross Country Championships. These athletes will travel to Samakov, Bulgaria for the championships taking place on Sunday 14th December. In her debut in the senior age category, Emelia Gorecka secured her place in the team having finished second in Liverpool. She was followed closely by other EPACC athletes Lily Partridge in fourth place, and Steph Twell in seventh. Amy Griffith, running in the Under 20’s race, finished in fourth position. In the men’s event, Luke Cadwell finished fourth in the senior race with Tom Wade and Jonathan Hay battling it out to the finish line placing sixth and seventh respectively. Speaking of the Championships selection, St Mary’s Director for Sport Andrew Reid-Smith said, “As a result of last weekend’s performances St Mary’s EPACC athletes are yet again well represented in the GB & NI team selected for the European Cross Country Champs. We wish all the athletes and coaches success and I’m sure they’ll continue the strong tradition of performing well at this Championship.” EPACC Performance Coach Mick Woods will also support the British team as Senior Men’s Team Coach.
