The Drama St Mary’s Theatre at St Mary’s University, Twickenham will be welcoming back award-winning theatre company New International Encounter (NIE) on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th March.
NIE has performed at St Mary’s several times, with their most recent performance North North North in October 2013. The company will be returning to perform Pim and Theo, one in their current repertoire of 11 shows, as part of Drama St Mary’s 2014 spring production programme.
Inspired by Ian Buruma’s book The Limits of Tolerance, the play explores the lives of left-wing anarchist filmmaker Theo Van Gogh and far-right political leader Pim Fortuyn, two key Dutch political leaders who were murdered by extremists. Questions are raised about what their careers and deaths can tell us about our times.
Programme Director for Drama and Applied Theatre Patsy Gilbert commented, “We are pleased to welcome back New International Encounter, who are old friends of Drama St Mary’s. We are very proud to bring such high-quality professional theatre to our local audiences.”
The two performances will take at 7pm in Studio 3 at the St Mary’s Strawberry Hill Campus. Tickets cost £5 and are available to all members of the public. More information and booking details can be found on the Drama St Mary’s website.
