An MA Sports Journalism graduate from St Mary’s University, Twickenham has been awarded with the NFL UK Sports Journalism Award for his performance in a National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) exam.
Tom Mellor, along with two other students, was presented with the award by Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Will Blackmon at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 16th July to recognise his performance in the NCTJ’s Diploma in Journalism: Sports Journalism exam.
As part of the award, Tom has won the chance to report from the press box at one of three NFL international series games at Wembley. He said, “It’s very exciting to win something like this and the chance to report from an NFL game at Wembley is fantastic.
“It’s testament to the quality of training I received at St Mary’s and Sportsbeat. The industry is so difficult to break into and the foundation of skills they give you is invaluable.”
