Dr Andre Roca, Lecturer in Sports Coaching Science at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, recently gave an invited presentation as part of a symposium at the biennial Conference of the German Association for Sport Science (DVS) in Kassel.
The talk was part of a symposium on ‘Multifaceted approaches to decision-making in sport’ at the biennial Conference of the German Association for Sport Science (DVS) in Kassel. The title of Andre’s talk was ‘Perceptual-cognitive expertise in football and its acquisition’ in which he presented an overview of key findings of some of his most recent publications. This research work has focused on examining the processes underpinning superior anticipation and decision making in sport with a focus on football and how these superior skills are acquired through practice.
The conference took place on 24-26th September in Kassel, Germany and welcomed 200 renowned international scientists and coaches from different sport games.
