St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has strengthened its ties within the local community by continuing to support local charity Shooting Star CHASE Children’s Hospice, which provides support for local families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition.
The University College recently donated the use of its Chapel to allow the charity to perform their Christmas Carol Concert with a scratch choir made up of staff and volunteers. St Mary’s staff at the chapel also helped with some of the set up and logistics, while the catering department supplied glasses and use of the kitchen.
The concert raised over £4,000 for the charity, which can pay for 12 ‘Little Sparklers’ sessions where parents and toddlers can socialise with other families and access the therapies available at the hospices.
This follows on from the donation of use of the football pitch from Sports St Mary’s to aid a member of the local community who was also fundraising for the charity.
