A quarter of all the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) RE students in the country recently gathered at St Mary’s University, Twickenham for a conference on Pedagogy and Practice in the Teaching of Christianity.
St Mary’s RE Lecturer Catherine Hobday arranged the event in collaboration with The National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE).
The annual event is an opportunity to bring together as many PGCE Secondary RE trainees to explore common issues in the teaching of Religious Education. The conference was attended by students and tutors from Cambridge, Brighton, London Institute, Kings College, Roehampton and St Mary’s.
Edmund Boyle, Academic Director of Secondary and Community Education at St Mary’s, said, “There was excellent feedback on the day from all who attended and real opportunities provided for trainee teachers within RE to get to know each other.”
