The number of overseas degree programmes offered by St Mary’s University College, Twickenham has been expanded following a partnership agreement with the Rushmore Business School in Mauritius.
The University College currently offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at partner institutions across the globe and this new collaboration will now offer students in Mauritius the opportunity to study a St Mary’s degree, at home.
St Mary’s School of Education, Theology and Leadership (ETL) will deliver two programmes at the Rushmore Business School, a Level 6 BA conversion programme in Physical and Sport Education and a PGCE Primary and Secondary Physical Education programme. The courses will take place in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Members of St Mary’s International Office and ETL met with Dr Nittin Essoo from the Rushmore Business School, who signed the agreement on Wednesday 15th January. Dr Essoo said, “We are delighted about this collaboration between our two institutions and especially about the two programmes that are groundbreaking courses in Mauritius.
“The BA in Physical and Sport Education is one of the first British degrees in this field of study which is being offered on the island, and the PGCE is premiere in offering Mauritian PE teachers the opportunity to upgrade their pedagogical skills.”
Dr Maureen Glackin, Head of St Mary’s School of Education, Theology and Leadership added, “At the heart of all great teaching is the desire to share knowledge and to learn from each other. The collaboration between St Mary’s and Rushmore is an indication of our commitment to facilitate this in a range of settings in order to improve the outcomes for those we teach. We look forward to greeting the first cohort of students in the coming months.”
