The School of Arts and Humanities at St Mary’s University, Twickenham has announced its seminar series for the second semester of the 2013/14 academic year, showcasing research in a wide range of areas in art and culture.
The series began with Visiting Lecturer Ann-Marie Richards’ talk on task repetition and its effect on the oral fluency of English students who are learning English as a second language, and Research Fellow Prof Peter Skehan giving a talk entitled Foreign Language Aptitude: The Lazarus of Applied Linguistics.
Research Fellow Dr Jack Donovan will be holding his seminar on Shelley, Incest and Poetry, which explores the topics of the works of Percy Bysshe Shelley, on Monday 24th March.
Dr Richard Mills, Programme Director and Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies and Screen Media, will be talking about the eccentric nature of David Bowie’s music and lyrics on Wednesday 2nd April, and the series will be brought to a close on Thursday 8th May by Allyson Purcell-Davis, Senior Lecturer in Media Arts, who will be discussing the reporting of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of 2008.
Series co-ordinator Dr Michelle Paull said, “We are very pleased that our seminars continue to represent a diverse range of subjects, leading to much lively and enthusiastic debate afterwards.”
