St Mary’s Announces New International Scholarships

St Mary’s University, Twickenham has further expanded its International Scholarship Scheme, offering additional support worth more than £30,000 for international students beginning a degree this September. Nearly 20 new scholarships have been made available to students who show a high academic achievement, returning alumni and students wishing to undertake student engagement roles within the University. New and current students who have demonstrated high academic results will be able to apply for one of six scholarships (worth £1,500). St Mary’s alumni, who wish to continue their studies at the University could be eligible for one of 11 postgraduate scholarships, each worth between £1,500 and £3,000. The new scholarships join the recently announced GREAT Britain scholarship scheme in India, which aims to tackle the falling number of Indian students attending UK universities, with eight scholarships, also worth £1,500 available towards tuition fees. St Mary’s International Communications Officer Rebecca Smith said, “St Mary’s welcomes students from all over the world and these new scholarships are being offered as part of our on-going commitment to being an institution with a global outlook on education and the community.” Head of St Mary’s International Office Mariann Baker said, “We are finding that an increasing number of students wish to continue their studies with us after finishing their undergraduate degree, recognising our excellence in teaching and the pastoral support that we offer. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer additional scholarships to international students.” The scholarships are open now, to students who have applied for a course for 2015-2016 academic year along with three available to current students progressing through their undergraduate degree.
