Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching Science at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Katie Richards delivered a special one-day workshop for the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) on Saturday 15th August. The workshop formed part of a series of seminars for Accredited members of the Association designed to facilitate their professional development and welcomed professional coaches from across the country. Entitled From Cartwheels to Champions, the workshop covered a range of floor-based gymnastics skills, such as rolls, handstands and cartwheels, which strength and conditioning coaches can utilise with athletes to enhance movement competency. BSc Strength and Conditioning Science Programme Director and UKSCA Board Director Richard Blagrove commented, "Katie delivered two fantastic sessions with an experienced group of strength and conditioning coaches. The activities were highly practical and her engaging style of delivery ensured everyone learnt a huge amount that they can apply to their professional practice."
