The Careers Service at St Mary’s University, Twickenham recently held a Humanities Careers Event to enable current students to network with alumni who are working in key industries, as well as external organisations such as Richmond Literature Festival and the charity RUILS.
St Mary’s welcomed employers and St Mary’s alumni from the English, Sociology, Philosophy and History programmes to speak to students. The guests came from a range of professions including Marketing and PR, Television, Charity, Business, and Education.
More than 50 students attended from the School of Arts and Humanities and they were able to find out about life in the workplace, how to find a job and develop after university, how to present themselves professionally, and how to seize opportunities open to them, in addition to the invaluable networking opportunity.
After the event one student commented, “It was great to hear from a range of professionals about their career paths”, and another student said, “I got some good insights into getting work after university, and much more!”
The Careers Service at St Mary’s provides a range of services to students and staff including impartial and confidential information and advice about anything careers related.
