The LLB Law Programme at St Mary’s University, Twickenham hosted a special Law summer school on 23rd and 24th June for year 12 pupils.
The two-day event aimed at giving pupils the chance to find out more about law and get taste of university life. On the first day, pupils were taken on a campus tour with St Mary’s Student Ambassadors, before an Introduction to Law and Politics and Law lecture, which explained the basic principals of a ‘criminal offence’ in legal terms.
Day two began with a role-playing session in which the pupils enacted a mock trial. Each pupil assumed a role from the courtroom, including a judge, prosecution, defence, clerk, and jury, to decide whether the defendant was guilty.
The Law summer school concluded with a special interactive Sports Law workshop, which explored all of the legal complications that a visit to a Premier League football match can entail.
