Students on the LLB Law and BA Business Law Programmes at St Mary’s University, Twickenham visited city firm Fieldfisher solicitors in London on Monday 29th June.
The visit enabled students to take part in a practical session on Sports Law with Senior Associate at Fieldfisher, Daniel Geey, in which he discussed recent developments in Football Law. Daniel spoke on the impact of new legal developments in Financial Fair Play and the role that football agents play in the industry. He also gave the students some top tips on how to pursue a career as a sports lawyer. The session was very interactive and the students raised a lot of interesting points regarding this fast moving area of the law.
Daniel Geey works with football clubs, owners, directors, agents and companies on a range of regulatory issues. He also provides regular comment and analysis for a number of broadcasters and lectures at universities throughout Europe on EU sports and competition law.
Lecturer in Law at St Mary’s Jenny Henry said, “Daniel’s talk was very well received and both the session and the magnificent view of the city was really inspirational and motivating for the students.”
