Second Year Drama and Physical Theatre students at St Mary’s University, Twickenham are to perform A Spy Story under the direction of Bob Orr, visiting lecturer, at the end of February in the Drama St Mary’s Theatre.
Based on The Thirty-Nine Steps, both the John Buchan novel and the Alfred Hitchcock film adaptation, the students have adapted this well-loved story into a hilarious, riveting farce of non-stop action and comedy.
The play is set in August 1935 with relations between Britain and Germany deteriorating rapidly. Richard Hannay is living a quiet life in London, but an unexpected encounter with a mysterious stranger plunges him into hair-raising adventure, fighting against the clock in a desperate hunt across the country to solve a crime.
Tickets for the production cost just £5 and can be purchased at the Drama St Mary’s Theatre box office or online using the Drama St Mary’s booking website.
