Blog: Celebrate your favourite parks

There are many opportunities to get outside and celebrate parks in your local area, and Health and Wellbeing Services have worked on a variety of projects, including OurParks and ParkRun (and Junior ParkRun). All are great ways to get involved with physical activity in your local area, and are completely free to attend. Find out more about your nearest ParkRun, Junior ParkRun or OurParks sessions here: http://www.ourparks.org.uk/ http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ Health & Wellbeing Services have been doing some work with the London Borough of Hounslow this year, helping to evaluate the impact of outdoor gyms by looking at park usage and monitoring physical activity levels. The London Borough of Hounslow has installed six brand new outdoor gyms this summer, which include a range of cardio and strength equipment suitable for outdoor use. New outdoor gyms have been installed in the following parks; Beaversfield Park, Thornbury Park, Osterley Sport & Athletics Centre,  Redlees Park, Hanworth Park and Southville Park. On completion, a total of 12 outdoor gyms will be available to residents across the borough. This summer, Fusion Lifestyle are running free outdoor training sessions to introduce people to the equipment and how to use it safely; a great chance to go along and get involved!
