The Careers Team at St Mary’s University, Twickenham celebrated, as their annual careers show doubled in size this year. Over 440 students attended the show at the start of February, speaking to over 40 exhibitors.
The show was designed to give students a head start in their graduate careers. On arrival they were given a welcome talk from the University’s qualified careers consultants to support them in making the most of the event. The students were able to talk individually with recruiters to understand more about different careers, graduate entry routes, the type of experience they need, how to apply for jobs and the big issues affecting their sectors.
Over 40 employers attended the event, with representatives from the European Commission, the fitness sector, local and national charities, the Police, marketing, local government, solicitors and the Armed Forces. Attendees were also able to find out about Postgraduate study at St Mary’s, including PGCEs and the University’s range of Master’s programmes.
One final year student said, “I made some excellent contacts today, the people I have spoken to were really friendly and keen to help me. It has been informative and given me a kick-start into thinking about my career.”
