St Mary’s University, Twickenham gained accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for the “business plan for sports nutritionists” element of SNU7014, a 20-credit module entitled “Applied Sports Nutrition” within the MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition in the School of Sport, Health and Applied Science. The business plan assessment carries 10% of the weighting for the module.
The MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition is one of the few programmes in the UK to be accredited with the Sport and Exercise Nutrition register (SENr). The purpose of SENr is to promote high standards of education and services in sports and exercise nutrition. Additional accreditation from an externally recognised professional body such as the CMI adds credibility to the business element of the programme. Students who successfully complete the module will receive a certificate from the CMI stating they had completed a recognised programme.
The School of Management and Social Sciences have recently accredited the BA in Business Management with the CMI resulting in a Higher Education Partnership. The School of Sport, Health and Applied Science hopes that this latest CMI accreditation also leads to similar third-party industry partnerships, whilst also creating the opportunity for other programmes to gain recognised programme status.
