The Good Teacher Training Guide has ranked St Mary’s University, Twickenham first in London and sixth nationally for Teacher Training Quality.
The report, compiled by the Centre for Education and Employment Research at the University of Buckingham looked at providers of Teacher Training across the country, including both Postgraduate and Undergraduate. St Mary’s Ranked in the top 10 in both for quality, in addition to ranking first in London.
The University has a proud tradition of teaching excellence, having trained teachers since its foundation in 1850. The teacher training programmes at St Mary’s saw 97.4% of 2015’s Primary PGCE graduates in employment within six months.
Head of the School of Education, Theology and Leadership Dr Maureen Glackin said, “I am extremely proud of these outcomes: they are testament to the incredible work that colleagues, schools and students do as part of the St Mary's Partnership, to support the development of great teachers for our classrooms. I feel privileged to lead such a fine team.”
The findings come in the same month that St Mary’s was nominated for five Whatuni? Awards and was ranked the top university in London in six categories by Times Higher Education including student experience, sports, campus atmosphere and relationship with teaching staff, amongst others.
