In an evening of fun and hard work, 45 students from the BSc and MSc Sport Rehabilitation programmes and the Professional Short Course in Sports Massage at St Mary’s University, Twickenham provided almost 800 pre-event massages to walkers at the London MoonWalk on Saturday 14th May.
The London MoonWalk is an annual event organised by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk. Participants walked a 26.2 mile course starting at Clapham Common to raise awareness and funds to support breast cancer research.
Lecturer in Sport Rehabilitation Paul Draper said, “The students worked incredibly hard from 8pm until almost midnight, helping enthusiastic walkers prepare for their night. More of our students than ever took part this year, meaning we could treat even more walkers. As always, the atmosphere on the night was amazing.
“The London Moonwalk is a unique event and we are very proud of our students, and they should be very proud of themselves.”
Students from the Sport Rehabilitation programmes at St Mary’s frequently support charitable events and recently provided free sport massages to over 500 runners after the London Marathon.
