St Mary’s University, Twickenham was proud to host the annual GuildHE conference on 22nd and 23rd November. Amongst speakers at the conference was Jo Johnson, Minister of State for Universities and Science, who discussed the recently passed Higher Education bill with delegates and set out how he sees the sector developing. St Mary’s Vice-Chancellor Francis Campbell welcomed delegates to the conference, whilst Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise Rt Hon Ruth Kelly, St Mary’s Visiting Professor and former Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable also addressed delegates.
Speaking of the conference Francis Campbell said, “I was honoured to welcome delegates to this year’s conference. The higher education sector is facing a number of unknowns at the moment, from Brexit to TEF. Conferences like this provide a fantastic opportunity for institutions to share and discuss the challenges we all face.”
CEO of GuildHE Gordon McKenzie added, “We were delighted that St Mary's University hosted this year's GuildHE Annual Conference in its Waldegrave Suite. Each year we host this event - which brings together the GuildHE members and key figures from the higher education sector - at a member institution and this year's venue truly showcased the spirit of St Mary's.”
