St Mary’s University Law Workshop joined by Visiting Practitioner Reena Ghai

St Mary's University held a domestic violence practical workshop for second year LLB Law degree students on 9th March 2017, with family law practitioner, Reena Ghai (from Reena Ghai Solicitors, Cranford) and Judith Bourne, lecturer in law.

The workshop examined the measures which may be taken under family law by domestic violence victims wishing to protect themselves from further violence and abuse.

Judith Bourne commented: "This was a really exciting workshop with many students commenting on how interesting, useful and enjoyable the session was.  Reena Ghai has considerable experience and expertise in this area.  She provided the students with a practical insight into this area of law and many useful tips for making court applications (as well as answering coursework questions!)

"This session really enhanced student knowledge, learning and understanding of this very sensitive topic. Links with members of the local legal community, such as Reena Ghai, are always beneficial in showing students how the legal theory works in practice.  I am very grateful to Reena for taking time out of her busy legal schedule to transfer knowledge to my students."
