St Mary’s University, Twickenham has welcomed students from Richmond-upon-Thames College who are undertaking work placements.
The four students are spending 12 weeks learning new skills under the supervision of their mentors in Catering, Stores Management and the Post Room.
This year, St Mary’s is hosting the sixth cohort of mentees from Richmond College with the aim of the partnership to equip the students, who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), with employability skills in a real work setting and therefore improving their chances of gaining employment when they leave education.
So far the placements have significantly boosted students’ confidence, contributing to their future success in the working world and the project is an integral part of St Mary’s commitment to foster positive relationships with the local community.
Organisational Development Consultant for Wellbeing at St Mary’s Dominika Sarosiek said, “We would like to thank our mentors for their dedication, effort and the time they have put in to supervise the placements and wish the students every success during their time at St Mary’s.”
