Pro Vice-Chancellor to Launch New Series of History Public Lectures

Pro Vice-Chancellor of Academic Strategy at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, Prof John Charmley, is to give a public lecture on ‘Churchill and the Myths of Brexit’ as part of a new series of History talks at the University.

The lecture, which takes place on Thursday 25^th October, will discuss the influence of Britain’s 20^th Century history on current political discussions about the UK’s place in Europe and the wider world.

The event will be followed by two further lectures this semester, which are intended to provide a forum for discussion of current scholarship in History and the Humanities at St Mary’s.

On Thursday 15^th November,  Glenn Richardson, Professor of History at St Mary’s, will deliver a talk on ‘The King’s Cardinal? Wolsey and Henry VIII’ and on Thursday 6^th December, Dr Sinead McEneaney, Dr Mark Donnelly and Dr Richard Mills, all of whom work in the department of Humanities at St Mary’s, will lead an event entitled ‘Rethinking the Global 1960s: A Roundtable Discussion’.

All three events will take place in St Mary’s Waldegrave Drawing Room from 6.15pm, with all welcome to attend the free events.
