A book being published by Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at St Mary’s University, Twickenham Christie Watson has been first serialised in The Sunday Times.
Christie’s The Language of Kindness, which is also being adapted for television, talks of her 20 years working as a nurse.
The Sunday Times published a 6600-word extract from the book in its Sunday Times Magazine (15th April), which features Christie on the front cover, and on its website.
The book is being published on Thursday 3rd May by Chatto & Windus, who was one of the 14 publishers bidding for the memoirs.
The book is the third Christie has written after titles Tiny Sunbirds Far Away, and Where Women Are Kings.
Christie said, “I'm very proud to honour nurses and nursing in the Sunday Times Magazine and I was delighted and a bit shocked to see my face on the cover!”
