On Wednesday 7th November, The Institute of Education from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, held their annual Teach Meet at The Exchange in Twickenham.
The event was held on behalf of The West London Chartered College of Teaching Hub, and co-hosted by St Mary’s, and St Richard Reynolds Catholic College in Twickenham. Over 100 delegated attended the event, along with teachers from all walks of education, creating an inspiring and interesting event for all who attended to enjoy.
The theme of this year’s Teach Meet was ‘Making Connections’, which featured 15 speakers in 90 minutes, who covered topics ranging from early years outdoors, to cognitive load theory in secondary physics lessons. The event finished with a key reminder for all teachers, that was centred around the importance of teacher wellbeing and the idea of setting the right pace as teachers.
Professor Anna Lise Gordon, Interim Director of the Institute of Education commented on the event, saying “The quality of the presentations and the buzzing atmosphere are testament to the dedication of so many people involved across the education sector. Key moments were tweeted live from the event and there is no doubt that the Teach Meet was an event to be repeated again before too long!”
