St Mary’s University Student Trip to the Supreme Court

Students from St Mary’s University, Twickenham, studying LLB Law, LLB Law and Criminology and BA Criminology and Sociology programmes, visited the Supreme Court on Monday 12^th November. 

The Supreme Court is the final court of appeal in the UK for civil cases, and for criminal cases from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It hears cases of the greatest public or constitutional importance affecting the whole population. It was an exciting opportunity for students to see the law in action and to witness how many of the judgements that they read on the course are formed.

Students were given a tour of the Supreme Court and had an opportunity to sit in on a Privy Council case, where the Justices included the President of The Supreme Court, The Right Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE and Justice of The Supreme Court, The Right Hon Lady Black of Derwent DBE, the second woman to join the Supreme Court.
